Bliss Balls are probably one of the easiest Raw Desert recipes out there. It’s as simple as chucking a heap of ingredients in a food processor then rolling the mixture into bite sized balls. If you have small children and they love helping out in the kitchen this is a great recipe to make with them. There’s no heating and cooking and it’s a heap of messy fun!
It’s best to use as many vegan, organic and fresh ingrediants as possible, otherwise it wouldn’t quite be a vegan, refined-sugar free Raw Desert! Here are some photos of the ingrediants and brands I use and love. I get most of my ingredients at my local Flannery’s and Healthy Life stores.
The Almonds and Macadamia’s are Macro brand from Woolies.
Natural Delights Medjool Dates, you can buy a 450g punnet from Woolworths for $8.98 but I bought a 907g punnet from Costco for $10.00! Bargain!
Ok now for the Recipe! Feel free to play around with measurements and ingredients, it’s entirely up to you.
1.5 Cup Nuts (i used 1 cup Almonds, 1/2 cup Macadamia’s)
2 heaped tbsp Cacao Powder
1 Cup Softened Dates – dont forgot to remove the seeds
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
1 tbsp Rice Syrup (or any natural sweetener)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Chia Seeds
1 tsp Cacao Nibs
1/3 Cup shredded Coconut
*If you want your Bliss Balls mixture to be quite smooth leave out the Chia Seeds and Cacao Nibs as these add quite a bit of crunch*
Add the nuts and Cacao Powder to the processor and mix until you’ve got small crumbs.
Add the rest of your ingredients and process. Taste as you go, if you want it sweeter just add some more sweetener.
You will know it’s ready when the mixture sticks together when you squeeze it in your palm.
Roll into bite size pieces, feel free to have some fun and coat in Cacao Powder or Shredded Coconut.
Store in a air-tight container. These guys will store for about 1 week in the fridge, if they last that long!
Have a crack and let me know how you went! I would love to see your pictures too.
